- NAI Hanson wins in total sales, total leasing and retail brokerage categories - HACKENSACK, N.J., APRIL 5, 2010 - NAI James E. Hanson, a leading New Jersey-based commercial real estate firm, has been named a 2009 Power Broker by CoStar Group, Inc. NAI Hanson received four awards in three categories: a Top Sales Firm in Northern New Jersey, a Top Leasing Firm in Northern New Jersey and two Top Retail Leasing Broker awards, all for Northern New Jersey. "We are pleased to have simultaneously won awards in both the Top Sales Firm and Top Leasing Firm categories for the 2009 CoStar Power Broker Awards," said NAI Hanson President William Hanson, SIOR. "In addition to our firm's success, two of our brokers were acknowledged as Top Retail Leasing Brokers for 2009. Despite turbulent times, NAI Hanson created new business groups, added staff and completed 250 transactions overall, which allowed us to lead the way in the Northern New Jersey commercial real estate market, and we look forward to continued success in 2010." The Top Sales Firm awards recognize the total value and number of sales transactions completed during the 2009 calendar year, as reported to CoStar. NAI Hanson also won this award in 2006. Similarly, the Top Leasing Firm awards acknowledge companies with high leasing transaction volume for the year, wherein a company acted as the agent or broker on any U.S. transaction. NAI Hanson has won this award every year since 2005. NAI Hanson Vice President Anthony Cassano and Director of Government Services Peter Cohen were named 2009 Power Brokers in the Top Retail Leasing category. According to CoStar, the commercial real estate information company tracks individual brokers on both the tenant and landlord representation sides, crediting each one for the total square footage of the deal. One major deal by Cassano and Cohen involved a long-term, 123,816-square-foot land lease for the construction of a 111-room limited-service Hampton Hilton Hotel in Mahwah, N.J. The pair represented both the landlord, Barn Village Music, and the lessee, OTO Development / Palmetto Hospitality of Mahwah, in the negotiations. "Even though the Mahwah deal took a number of years to site and build, the development complements the area," commented Cassano. "The transaction is a sign that the economy is looking up." Hanson added, "Anthony and Peter continue to set the bar both as trusted real estate brokers and as exceptional customer service providers for their clients. They are both very deserving of this award, and I am proud to say they are a part of the NAI Hanson team." Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., CoStar Group is the No. 1 provider of information, marketing and analytic services to the commercial real estate industry. The Power Broker Awards acknowledge all top firms in each market, in no particular order, as evaluated by CoStar's internal research team. About NAI James E. Hanson Since 1955, NAI James E.
