NAI Hanson’s Peter Hanson Receives Society of Industrial and Office Realtors’ Diamond Anniversary Torch

Jan 25, 2018

Hackensack, N.J. (January 25, 2018) – Peter Hanson, SIOR, Chairman of the Board of NAI James E. Hanson, was recently honored as the recipient of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtor’s (SIOR) Diamond Anniversary Torch in recognition of his 55 years of dedicated service to SIOR and the commercial real estate industry.

Brokers holding the SIOR designation are recognized by corporate real estate executives, commercial real estate brokers, agents, lenders, and other real estate professionals as the most capable and experienced brokerage practitioners in any market. As such only 3,200 brokers across the globe hold the SIOR designation.  Since joining SIOR in 1962, Hanson has been a leader in the prestigious commercial real estate organization, service at the National President in 1985, serving on their Board of Directors since 1980 and a recipient of their Howell Watson Lifetime Achievement Award in 1993. Hanson is joined by nine other brokers at NAI James E. Hanson who hold the SIOR designation.

The Diamond Anniversary Torch was created to mark the 75th Anniversary of SIOR in 2016. The Torch visited all 48 SIOR chapters throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Mexico to celebrate the organization’s milestone anniversary. Following the completion of the tour, SIOR announced that the Torch would be annually passed to an influential member each year. Hanson is only the second person in SIOR history to receive the torch, a mark of the contributions he has made to the organization and the commercial real estate community.

“SIOR is not solely a designation, it represents the highest professional achievement of the most experienced commercial real estate brokers in the industry,” said Hanson. “I have been proud to hold the designation for over 50 years and am honored to have been selected for this award. I look forward to continuing to leverage the experience and knowledge of the SIOR network in my work at NAI Hanson and helping to guide SIOR into its exciting future.”

“My father has mentored countless numbers of commercial real estate professionals over his 55 years of membership in SIOR with no expectation of anything in return,” added Bill Hanson, SIOR, President of NAI James E. Hanson. “He is the epitome of the professionalism that defines SIOR and has carried the founding ideals of SIOR into his work at NAI James E. Hanson each and every day over his career.”

Hanson was also recognized by the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) with their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 and the Industrial and Office Real Estate Brokers Association’s (IOREBA) with their Special Lifetime Member Award in 2016.
