Hanson, joined NAI Global in highlighting the Women of NAI with an insightful discussion with Kimberly Kocur, SVP of Corporate Services. We asked Kimberly what advice she has for women pursuing a career in commercial Real Estate.
“Work/Life Balance and Financial Responsibility are the 2 most important rules for success in CRE.” said Kocur.
Some other bits of advice from Kimberly are:
- Be ready to pivot! Things change, plans fall through, and life happens. Be ready to pivot when chasing your goals.
- Your environment is crucial! Regardless how disciplined or motivated, if you are in the wrong environment, you’ll never get anything done.
- You can’t stop learning! The moment you stop learning you stop progressing. I try to learn something new every day.
- Risk is a part of life! Whether you’re taking on a new job, starting your own business, anything that has the potential to improve your life involves risk.
- You need discomfort! Whether it’s physical discomfort in the gym or mental discomfort when chasing your goals, embracing discomfort is the key to long term fulfillment.
- Consistency always wins! Talented but not consistent, you will fail. Hard working but not consistent, you will fail. If you have consistency, YOU WILL WIN!
- Not everyone wants you to win! Learn to recognize those that truly want the best for you and those that don’t. Cut the later out.
- You need to start! Start to live for you, not anyone else.
